 David Ruis Speaks from the Soul Survivor Summer Festival: Newport Beach, CA
Soul Survivor ministries began in 1993 in the UK. Youth Pastor, Mike Pilavachi wanted to host a festival
where young people could connect with God in worship and have space to deal with issues relevant to them. Along
with Matt Redman and others the first Soul Survivor Festival was held in the UK in the summer of 1993,
attracting 1896 teens and young adults. By 2005 the number of young people attending the summer festival
had risen to over 22,000. Soul Survivor has also branched into several other countries around the world
(Malaysia, the Netherlands, the USA, Canada, South Africa and Australia).
