My wife and I recently came back from an overseas visit to see family and friends. I had also been asked to speak at both Sunday services the day before we returned to the US, at a church pastored by some dear friends of ours. We arrived on Tuesday and retired early. In the early hours of Wednesday morning I found myself wide awake, but because we were in a single room in a remote country Bed and Breakfast, there was nowhere for me to go at one in the morning, I didn't want to wake my wife so I lay there.
As I was awake anyway I thought I'd make good use of the time and pray. For the next hour and a half I talked to the Lord and worshiped. Specifically, I was asking for His manifest presence and direction for the Sunday services I would be speaking at in five days time. I very seldom get names of people for ministry purposes but the Lord (speaking to me in loud thoughts) gave me the name "Helen” and this person "Helen" was crying out to Him and saying " God, do you even see me?" (Meaning do you even know I exist?").
The scenario continued. I heard the Lord saying to her " I see you" and not just in a visionary sense but also I. C. U. (intensive care unit) sense. He continued to address Helen, " I see you and my love for you is intensive and extensive, absolutely complete"
Fast forward to ministry time on the Sunday morning I gave the word saying, "I believe the Lord told me that there is someone here named Helen and he wants to simply say to you "I SEE YOU, and that my love for you is intensive and extensive, absolutely complete” No response from any "Helen". We had a great ministry time, the lord's presence being particularly sweet and his power being present to heal.
At lunch our friend (the pastors wife) casually mentioned that the word for Helen had been incredibly significant for one of the congregants named "Helen". She told me Helen is a very caring, giving person and this is what transpired. On the Tuesday of that same week Helen received news that her teaching job was changing, effectively bringing more stress into her life. More stress? Helen's husband is permanently wheel chair bound and takes a lot of looking after. Plus!!! Two teenage children. All of this building up to the point that Helen, on that very same Sunday morning, was alone in her kitchen, feeling utterly overwhelmed by her stressful circumstances. In desperation she looked up and cried out to the lord.........."Do you even see me God, do you even see me?"
Needless to say, the simple word I had given that morning naming her by name, with those three simple words addressed to her, "I see you” came as a veritable deluge of God's mercy and grace into her heart. Helen received prayer (from my friend) and massive encouragement and love from the Lord.
She came up to me at the evening service, her face beaming and said "I'm Helen". How are you doing I asked. She smiled at me and said, "Oh, great thanks". I could see she meant every word!
If you have a story of God’s grace and/or a testimony, we want to hear about it.
